Balinsasayao & Danao Twin Lakes

Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park is a natural park in the Philippines surrounding Lake Balinsasayao and Lake Danao is approximately 8,000 hectares, part of the 133,000-hectare Geothermal Reserve managed by the PNOC. The main features are Lakes Balinsasayao and Danao, contained in adjacent calderas 1,000 meters above sea level and separated by a ridge 20 meters in width. The lakes are completely surrounded by forest and lush vegetation of about 3,462 hectares spread over the Guintabon, Kabalin-an and Guinsayawan mountain ranges which serve as protection dikes to the lakes.

Lakes Balinsasayao and Danao are two small crater lakes separated by a narrow mountain ridge in a hallow surrounded by Mount Guintabon to the west, Mount Balinsasayao to the east, Mount Kalbasaan to the north, and Mount Mahungot to the south.They are located on the eastern slope of the Talinis mountain range which are volcanic in origin. Lake Balinsasayao has a surface area of 76 hectares (190 acres) and maximum depth of around 90 metres (300 ft). The smaller Lake Danao, on the other hand, has a surface area of 30 hectares (74 acres) and maximum depth of around 58 metres (190 ft).

Siaton

Balanan Lake

Balanan Lake is located in Sitio Balanan, Barangay Sandurot, Siation, at the southern end of the Island of Negros. It is 10 kilometers of good, partially cemented road from the South National highway at the western end of Siaton Bridge. The Lake is a 20-25-minute of picturesque drive from the highway junction.It is a “humerus” bone-formed body of water oriented along the northwest-southeast direction with an area of 24 hectares.

It is bounded in the east by the Balanan mountain range and on the west by the Nasig-id mountain range, both of which arise from each bank steeply to a height of more than 200 meters. The southern side is the only low and open area. The lake is 285 meters above sea level and is fed by the Lamarao, Balanan and Managob-sob creeks, located at the northern end. It has an exit located at the southern end and drops into the Siaton River.

Casaroro Falls

One of the few great looking and very popular waterfalls here in Negros Oriental. Casaroro is a tall waterfall, one the three waterfalls in Kampesa. Centrally located within a lush virgin forest, is a favorite spot for tourists. Within easy reach from Dumaguete City.
