Mount Talinis

Dubbed “Cuernos de Negros” or Horns of Negros, this mountain can be reached through Valencia or Calungan, Bacong. It has five lakes in the vicinity. Estimated nine (9) kilometers west of poblacion, 1,903 meters above sea level, the highest peak of the Cuernos de Negros. Nature trails need experienced guides. Rich variety of flora and fauna including rare species of wildlife. Cascades and lakes.

Mt. Talinis is easily climbed via nature trails that start in Bidjao, Dauin and Apolong, Valencia. Several crater lakes exits: Lake Yagumyum is between Yagumyum Peak and the main peak of Cuernos de Negros; Lake Nailig and Lake Mabilog are crater lakes near the summit. Lake Nailig serves as the main camping ground, with the peak accessible by a 30-minute trek. The summit is heavily forested and mostly covered with fog. The Kaipohan sulfur vents, an area of dead trees and bleached rocks, can be found on the trail to Apolong, Valencia.

Mt. Talinis towering peak makes up one crown of the famous Cuernos de Negros, the mountain range that provides the infamous backdrop to the city. To summit the peak, an overnight hike is necessary, and guides through the Valencia Municipal government.

Mt. Kanlaon

In Canlaon City , summer capital of Oriental Negros which is 165.7 kms. From Dumaguete City . Kanlaon volcano stands 8,087 ft. above sea level. Its cool atmosphere gives a similar setting to Baguio in Luzon .The park is the location of the island’s only active volcano, which straddles Negros Oriental and Occidental. The park has several herds of wild Philippine spotted deer, and guides are available at Canlaon City.

Mt. Kanlaon has a peak elevation of 2,465 m (8,087 ft) at its highest point, with a base diameter of 30 km (19 mi).

The volcano has three hot springs on its slopes: Mambukal Hot Springs on the northwest, Bucalan Hot Spring and Bungol Hot Spring. Its adjacent volcanic edifices are Mount Silay and Mount Mandalagan, north of Kanlaon. Mt. Kanlaon volcano is a favorite spot for mountain climbers and is the centerpiece of Mount Kanlaon Natural Park

Mabinay

Cayaso Cave & Underground River

Located 1 km. from the Poblacion Municipal Hall of Mabinay. Cayaso cave goes down 20 feet into a winding path of stone and behold, a gushing underground river of potable drinking water without a visible outlet.

Stalagmites and stalactites in different chambers with stone that glitters. The length is 3 km. The width varies from 6 feet or wider.

Pandalihan & Panligawan Caves

Two of the 22 caves in Mabinay has intricate natural limestone formations and interesting sights. It is only a little distance from the main road, 15 kms. from the Mabinay Poblacion.

A team of 15 Dutch cave explorers found in Mabinay the longest cave in the Philippines, the Odloman Cave which is mainly for adventurous spelunkers or mountaineers.
